Engineering Assistant Job Description

As a skilled Engineering Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of medical equipment within a reputable healthcare setting.

  • Provide technical support to hospital staff throughout the lifecycle of medical equipment, including commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Supervise specialist vendors and appointed contractors in the maintenance of medical equipment, ensuring work quality and compliance with required standards.
  • Regularly engage with users to gather feedback and provide updates on equipment maintenance, performance, reliability, and quality.
  • Investigate equipment faults, complaints, and potential hazards; support BME engineers in analyzing issues and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Ensure all work adheres to hospital standards, departmental protocols, and ongoing quality initiatives.
  • Manage frontline technical support inventory and assist the stock supervisor with documentation and inventory control.
  • Support BME engineers in coordinating medical equipment services and project activities with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
  • Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by BME engineers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Preferably a Diploma in Electronics / Biomedical Engineering.
  • Certificate in Electronics / Electromechanical / Mechatronics Engineering
  • Practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in a healthcare setting preferred
