Research Scientist Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in the field of molecular neuroscience. As a Visiting Research Fellow, you will play a key role in designing and managing a programme of research to meet agreed objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and implement research plans to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with experts to ensure project progress and high-quality results.
  • Supervise experiments, ensuring proper execution and support.
  • Analyse data and write up findings in a timely manner.
  • Present research activity to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Publish papers in reputable journals and present findings at conferences.
  • Train and supervise students and staff on research techniques and protocols.

Teaching, Research and Development:
  • Provide teaching on topics related to your work as requested by the line manager.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary research projects within the department's strategy.
  • Prepare and analyse data for publications and presentations.

General Duties:
  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality as applicable.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings as appropriate.
  • Foster high professional standards in research delivery.
  • Ensure duties are carried out efficiently and sustainably.
  • Comply with departmental policies and regulations.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in Biomedical sciences, Neuroscience, or relevant area.
  • Extensive knowledge of neurodegeneration.
  • Experience in iPSC differentiation, mouse models, phenotyping, advanced molecular biology, RNAseq, and high-throughput imaging.
  • Supervising postgraduate students and presenting research findings at conferences.
  • Strong publication record in high-impact journals.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Organise work without extensive supervision and prioritise tasks under deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive initiative.
  • Good interpersonal skills for a multidisciplinary setting.
