Molecular Biologist Role

Developing technological solutions to enhance detection and mitigation measures for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Defence is a crucial aspect of this role. As a Molecular Biologist, you will work with hazardous materials such as toxic chemicals and be responsible for generating research approaches, designing and conducting laboratory studies to develop new biological materials and workflows for desired purposes.

You will also analyse and communicate research proposals and outcomes to stakeholders, working closely with the Defence Medical & Environmental Research Institute (DMERI) to build up technological capabilities for the protection against chemical and biological warfare agents.

This role involves:

  • Performing R&D to harness emerging molecular biology technologies
  • Generating research approaches, design and conduct laboratory studies
  • Analysing and communicating research proposals and outcomes
  • Working with hazardous materials such as toxic chemicals

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Degree/Master/PhD in Molecular Biology/Molecular Biotechnology/Synthetic Biology
  • Experience with bacterial, yeast, and/or mammalian cell culture
  • Demonstrated expertise in protein engineering, production and/or purification
  • Experience in high-throughput screening, protein/nuclei acid synthesis and/or sequencing
  • Motivated, innovative and resourceful individual with keen interest in applied research
  • Possess good communication skill
  • Comfortable to work with hazardous materials such as toxic chemicals
