**Molecular Biologist**

**COMPANY**

At Peptobiotics we have built a new biotechnology product to replace the billions of dollars of antibiotics currently used in agriculture - enabling a productive, sustainable food system free from disease, and helping prevent the superbug crisis. We take an economic viability-first philosophy to synthetic biology product development. Our strain and bioprocess teams work together designing our product around straightforward scale-up and efficient unit economics. In just 2 years with only seed funding we prototyped the first commercial antimicrobial peptides for aquaculture and achieved multiple successful animal trials. Then in 2024 we raised Series A and scaled our manufacturing to 8000L, sold to customers in SE Asia and helped them save their crops from bacterial infections - without having to resort to antibiotic use. In 2025 we are scaling to 40000L+ bioreactors and also launching new products - this presents formidable challenges in strain and peptide engineering. We are looking for an inventive, high-initiative molecular biologist who can be our CTO's right hand in our R&D lab.

**OBJECTIVES**
- Design, oversee, and implement projects to genetically modify microorganisms to produce recombinant proteins for use in agriculture and industrial biotechnology.
- Perform lab duties including molecular cloning, microbial genetic manipulation; high-throughput protein expression screening, activity assays, strain engineering, etc.
- Lead team members and mentor junior lab members.
- Perform in silico genetic construct design.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Adept molecular biology problem solver - demonstrated experience designing/establishing new systems or lab protocols, trouble shooting, etc.
- Experience with yeast or fungal secreted protein production optimization desirable but not required.
- Previous involvement with rational or high throughput protein/peptide engineering also applicable.
- Exposure to HPLC, LC-MS and other protein purification/analytical techniques is also applicable.
- Previous start-up experience or interest in working in a startup environment.
