Job Title: Senior/Marine Operations Manager

This is a senior role that requires a high level of expertise in marine operations, with responsibility for implementing and maintaining safe, cost-efficient and environmentally sound operation standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily Operations Management: Implement and maintain safe, cost-efficient and environmentally sound operation standards for assigned vessels.
  • Crew Management: Manage the daily operation of vessels assigned to you in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Navigational Assistance: Advise Masters/Chief Engineers and ship staff on navigational operations such as UKC, supply of charts & publications etc.
  • Cargo and Tank Cleaning Operations: Manage cargo and tank cleaning operations for assigned vessels.
Incident/Accident/Crisis Management:

As a key member of the emergency response team, you will be responsible for conducting investigations into incidents, accidents, near misses and STOPER Cards. You will also review corrective actions, preventive actions and recommendations from investigations and analysis of accidents, marine casualties and near misses.

  • Investigation and Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis of incidents, accidents, near misses and STOPER Cards.
  • Review and Recommendations: Review corrective actions, preventive actions and recommendations from investigation and analysis of accidents, marine casualties and near misses.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Assist in coordinating table top exercises and emergency drills.
Liaising with Drycargo/Right Ship Inspections:

You will be responsible for ensuring that all PSC inspection reports are promptly sent to Drycargo first and subsequently followed up with CAR. You will also assist in coordinating Rightship inspections on vessels as required.

  • PSC Inspection Reporting: Send PSC inspection reports to Drycargo and follow up with CAR.
  • Right Ship Inspection Coordination: Assist in coordinating Rightship inspections on vessels as required.
Shipboard Inspections:

You will conduct regular visits to vessels, endeavouring to visit at least once per year. On each visit, you will complete a Superintendent Visit Report and conduct marine inspections, navigation audits and other relevant checks.

  • Vessel Visitation: Conduct regular visits to vessels, completing a Superintendent Visit Report and conducting marine inspections and navigation audits.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need a Master Mariner (Class 1) or Chief Engineer CoC with 2-3 years of sailing experience on bulk carriers. You will also need 2-5 years of shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent or similar role.

  • Mastery Requirements: Possess a Master Mariner (Class 1) or Chief Engineer CoC.
  • Sailing Experience: Have 2-3 years of sailing experience on bulk carriers.
  • Shore-Based Experience: Have 2-5 years of shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent or similar role.
