The role of a Library Assistant is multifaceted and plays a vital part in the smooth operation of the Learning Resource Hub. This individual will be responsible for delivering library and research services, as well as maintaining the Learning Resource Hub and its collections under the direction of the Librarian.
Key responsibilities include assisting learners, teachers, and staff with utilizing the Learning Resource Hub Catalogue, supporting teachers in promoting reading, and guiding learners in making informed choices about books available for recreational and research purposes.
Daily tasks will involve responding to information requests, preparing and distributing overdue notices, organizing resources for easy access, and performing daily shelving and regular shelf tidying of the collection.
Maintaining the Destiny Catalogue system to support circulation, cataloging, and increased access to academic resources is also a key aspect of this role. Additionally, assistance with annual inventory and yearly rollover of the Destiny Catalogue and online subscription data will be required.
This position involves repair, covering, and processing new resources, as well as assisting with weeding and the annual stocktake. Furthermore, creating engaging information displays and contributing to making the Learning Resource Hub a welcoming and helpful environment are essential duties.
