Job Summary:

The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for raw materials and components. The primary objective is to ensure cost-effective procurement, high-quality supply, and risk mitigation while aligning with business goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing Strategy Development: Create and implement sourcing strategies for plastic commodities (resins, additives, packaging materials) aligned with business objectives.
  • Supplier Evaluation and Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and compliance standards are met.
  • Market Insights: Monitor global market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain risks in the plastics industry. Provide insights and forecasts to internal stakeholders.
  • Cost Savings Initiatives: Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Collaboration Across Functions: Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and finance teams to align procurement strategies with product development and operational needs.
  • Sustainability and Compliance: Ensure sourcing practices comply with environmental regulations and support sustainability goals, including recycled and bio-based plastics.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze spend data, supplier performance metrics, and market indices. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commodity management or strategic sourcing, preferably in the plastics or manufacturing industry, is also required. Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills are essential. Additionally, proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) and procurement tools is necessary.
