Senior Manager, Content Strategy

This is a senior leadership position responsible for leading high-quality content development across multiple platforms to align with strategic communication priorities. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to produce timely, engaging stories about School of Computing research, impact, and community.

  • Develop and maintain an editorial calendar aligned with strategic communication priorities and events.
  • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, branding messaging across all communications outputs.
  • Utilize Generative AI tools to ideate, draft, and refine content rapidly, while scaling efforts.
  • Translate complex academic technical content into accessible compelling narratives for general specialist audiences.
  • Manage freelance writers, editors, photographers, and vendors to support content development in multiple formats.
  • Support media relations efforts by identifying newsworthy stories, preparing media materials, and coordinating interviews as required.
  • Track content performance engagement analytics using insights to optimize storytelling strategies and platform effectiveness.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A recognized degree in Communications, Journalism, Media, Computing, or Engineering related field.
  • At least 5 years experience in content creation, editorial strategy, digital media, including minimum 2-3 years in a senior lead role.
  • Strong command of English with strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to distil complex research technical material into clear engaging content.
  • Experience managing contributors, vendors, with strong project management organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead content strategy, manage multiple priorities, deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Creative mindset, strong visual narrative sense, attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools to evaluate content performance.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms, social media tools, content scheduling platforms.
  • Experience using generative AI tools to enhance content development advantages.
