Vessel Operations Specialist Job

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Vessel Operations Specialist to oversee the day-to-day operations of our assigned ships. This individual will be responsible for maintaining asset value, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing guidance on technical issues for optimal performance and cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related discipline, with experience in dual fuel vessel management, new build vessel deliveries, and sailing as an engineer on ships with DF propulsion systems.

  • Oversee daily ship operations, maintaining asset value and ensuring statutory compliance.
  • Provide guidance on technical issues for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement major repairs, dry-dockings, and vessel upgrades.
  • Manage ship resources and ensure timely supply of spare parts and consumables.
  • Ensure ships comply with all Flag state, Classification society, and Port State requirements.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduate Engineer or Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Unlimited Foreign Going).
  • Experience in Dual Fuel vessel management, new build vessel deliveries, and sailing as an Engineer on ships with DF propulsion systems.
  • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer on ocean-going vessels or Technical Superintendent/Vessel Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of vessels' technical requirements and voyage regulations.
  • Excellent project management and negotiation skills.
  • Digital fluency including proficiency in Microsoft tools.

  • Experience in Dual Fuel vessel management, new build vessel deliveries, and sailing as an Engineer on ships with DF propulsion systems.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant vessel manager/superintendent experience with a global liner firm.
  • Experience as Chief Engineer onboard ocean-going vessels/Class 1 CoC Master Mariner with prior sailing as Master.
  • Digital fluency skills - IT knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication skills - written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems, technical procurement, and logistics processes.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
