Job Title: Global Shipping Expert

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive professional to join our team as a Global Shipping Expert. This role will involve providing expert advice on shipboard performance issues, maintenance, and procurement research.

The ideal candidate will have sailing experience as a 2nd Engineer or Chief Engineer on tanker vessels and has been ashore managing tanker vessels. They should also possess strong commercial acumen and knowledge of budgeting, OPEX, and cost control.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise and take action on all shipboard performance issues related to maintenance and procurement.
  • Research technical information related to equipment breakdowns and propose holistic solutions to improve long-term performance.
  • Review and handle EGCS operation and related issues.
  • Carry out maintenance audits onboard vessels twice a year.
  • Review procurement of expensive ship-spares and services for assigned vessels.
  • Review engineer crew changes and new crew qualifications.
  • Monitor and track expenses against budgets and authorize additional expenditure when required.
  • Participate in Technical Managers Audit to review yearly OPEX and policies.
  • Respond to technical incidents such as breakdowns and review managers response and report to assess cause of incident and prevent future occurrences.
  • Dry Docks – Review and agree scope of work and budget, then monitor drydock progress.

Requirements:

  • Sailing experience as a 2nd Engineer or Chief Engineer on tanker vessels.
  • Ashore managing tanker vessels experience.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, OPEX, and cost control.
