Renewable Energy and Alternative Fuels Underwriter

Our team is seeking an experienced underwriter to join our newly created Renewable Energy and Alternative Fuels Industry Practice. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive growth in the energy transition market by developing industry specialism across lines of business.

The successful candidate will have a strong market presence, representing the practice in broker and client meetings. They will also work closely with other internal stakeholders across all lines of business to provide excellent service to brokers and clients.

This role involves underwriting new business and renewal accounts according to defined guidelines and strategies. The candidate should have a good working knowledge of the renewable energy insurance market, including competitor and broker analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Underwriting new business and renewal accounts
  • Keeping appraised of developments in the industry, including projected investment and loss activity
  • Contribute towards achieving the financial plan and supporting the practice leader in preparing financial plans and reforecasts
  • Providing training, mentoring, and acting as a role model for junior underwriters

Additionally, this role requires leadership skills to support the practice in establishing and promoting best practice within the team. A strong understanding of Chubb's risk appetite across core lines of business and a high-level understanding across non-core lines is essential.

Requirements include:

  • Good working knowledge of the REAF insurance market
  • Results-driven with ability to make decisions and work on own initiative
  • Highly motivated with a solutions mindset and keen interest in the subject matter
  • Ability to execute and influence at all levels both internally and externally
