Renewable Energy Underwriter

The Renewable Energy Industry is rapidly evolving and Chubb is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Renewable Energy Underwriter. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic industry practice that is driving accelerated growth in the energy transition technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with developers and operators of renewable power assets, alternative fuel assets, and other transition technologies such as heating and cooling networks, and carbon capture and storage projects. The successful candidate will have a strong market presence, representing the REAF Industry Practice in broker and client meetings.

We are looking for a results-driven individual with a keen interest in the subject matter and the ability to make decisions and work on their own initiative. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of the REAF insurance market, including competitor and broker analysis. They will also possess significant experience of underwriting traditional energy/power and/or renewable energy/alternative fuel construction and operational property risks.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Underwriting new business and renewal accounts according to defined underwriting guidelines and strategies.
  • Keeeping up-to-date with developments in the industry, including projected investment across different REAF technologies, industry specific challenges and loss activity.

The successful candidate will also contribute towards achieving the REAF Industry Practice financial plan and support the REAF Industry Practice leader in preparing financial plans, reforecasts and predictions.

They will also provide training, mentoring, and act as a role model for more junior underwriters within the team. Additionally, they will meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, contract certainty, peer review, audit, compliance, legal and regulatory requirements.
