Energy Transition Specialist

Our newly created Renewable Energy and Alternative Fuels Industry Practice is looking for a skilled underwriter to drive accelerated growth in the renewable energy transition sector.
- Underwrite new business and renewal accounts according to defined guidelines and strategies, working closely with risk engineers as necessary.
- Maintain industry knowledge, including projected investment across different renewable energy technologies, industry-specific challenges, and loss activity.
The successful candidate will have a strong market presence, representing our team in broker and client meetings. They will work closely with internal stakeholders across lines of business and colleagues in claims, risk engineering, and global services to provide excellent service to brokers and clients.
Responsibilities:- Underwriting - underwrite new business and renewal accounts according to defined guidelines and strategies, working closely with risk engineers as necessary.
- Industry Knowledge - maintain industry knowledge, including projected investment across different renewable energy technologies, industry-specific challenges, and loss activity.
- Financial - contribute towards achieving the Industry Practice financial plan, support the Industry Practice leader in preparing financial plans, reforecasts, and predictions.
- Training & Mentoring - provide training, mentoring, and act as a role model for more junior underwriters within the team. Take underwriting referrals.
- Compliance and Procedures - meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, contract certainty, peer review, audit, compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Leadership - support the Industry Practice in establishing and promoting best practice within the team.
- Chubb Representative - represent and promote us to brokers and clients. Represent the Industry Practice team internally at production, renewal, and other internal meetings.
- Business Development - proactively maintain relationships with key brokers and clients to ensure profitable and sustainable growth, in conjunction with distribution and other key stakeholders. Develop and grow pipeline opportunities. Contribute towards strategic growth plans with key brokers.
- Cross-sell - proactively maximize cross-selling opportunities through collaboration with colleagues across lines of business. Have a good understanding of our risk appetite across core lines of business and a high-level understanding across non-core lines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Good working knowledge of the renewable energy insurance market, including competitor and broker analysis.
- Experienced professional whose expertise is recognized in the market.
- Results-driven with ability to make decisions and work on your own initiative.
- Highly motivated with a solutions mindset and keen interest in the subject matter, including macro and micro factors that impact the industry.
- Desire to continue developing technical and broader business skills.
- Ability to execute and influence at all levels both internally and externally.
- Significant experience of underwriting traditional energy/power and/or renewable energy/alternative fuel construction and operational property risks. Casualty underwriting knowledge being a strong advantage.
