About the Role

This pivotal Legal Counsel position is a key member of our legal team, responsible for comprehensively leading and managing all legal affairs for our Singapore operations. The role encompasses providing dedicated support for strategic initiatives in Singapore and championing Group-level compliance within the entity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing various contracts, agreements, and legal documents essential for the company's business operations in Singapore.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for organizing and managing the contract approval matrix, ensuring systematic archiving of legal documents for the Singapore entity.

Legal Affairs Support:

Provide comprehensive legal support for post-merger integration activities within Singapore, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with group legal frameworks.

Strategic Initiative Support:

Offer dedicated and specialized legal support for key strategic projects and initiatives within Singapore, including advising on all related legal and regulatory aspects from inception to completion.

Regional Expansion Support:

Act as a key legal partner supporting the Group's expansion strategies into new markets within Southeast Asia and South Asia, providing legal due diligence, risk assessment, and strategic advice for market entry and new business setups.

Intellectual Property Protection:

Oversee the protection of the company's intellectual property rights (trademarks, copyrights, patents, etc.) in Singapore and support regional IP strategies.

Liaising and Collaboration:

Liaise effectively with external legal counsel and government agencies to ensure smooth operations and compliance with legal obligations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide practical, commercially-sound legal solutions.

Knowledge Sharing & Development:

Participate in and conduct legal training sessions to enhance the legal knowledge and compliance awareness of internal teams in Singapore.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or above in Law (LLB, LLM, or JD preferred) from a recognized university.
  • Eligibility to practice law in Singapore; alternatively, qualification in another common law jurisdiction with substantial experience in Singapore law.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience, preferably within a multinational corporation.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in a transnational corporation and familiarity with navigating matrix organizations.
  • An excellent command of English (both written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in other languages relevant to Southeast Asia or South Asia would be an advantage.
