The primary objective of this role is to provide exceptional customer service by handling inquiries, requests for quotation, bookings, and coordination. This entails creating bookings in a proprietary freight forwarding system and collaborating with carriers, depots, trucking companies, insurance providers, and customs clearance experts.
This position involves managing a full spectrum of import and export documents, including Bills of Lading, Delivery Orders, permits, and other relevant paperwork.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding promptly to customer inquiries and resolving issues efficiently;
- Maintaining close communication with vendors, customers, carriers, and overseas agents;
- Offering solutions to clients for shipment space;
- Resolving routine and non-routine customer complaints;
- Sourcing and negotiating rates;
- Managing job files, including billing and closing;
- Auditing job files for accuracy within the in-house Freight Management System;
- Nurturing good relationships with network agent partners and house accounts;
- Performing ad-hoc duties assigned by management.
Requirements
Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in freight forwarding;
- A general diploma in freight forwarding or logistics (although candidates without this qualification but with extensive relevant experience may also be considered);
- Strong IT skills;
- An understanding of import and export processes;
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure;
- Problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
- Negotiation skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
- Familiarity with trade compliance;
- Experience in freight, trucking, and shipping industries.
