Job Title: Coastal Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Coastal Engineer to join our team. As a coastal engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects related to coastal and ocean wave modeling using Delft3D software.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead storm surge modeling in the Singapore Sea. You will perform physics-based modeling to build a numerical model that can predict storm surges in Singapore coastlines based on different weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage research projects with Principal Investigators (PI), Co-PIs, and research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
  2. Develop and validate numerical models for wave propagation, storm surge modeling, and coastal dynamics using Delft3D and SWAN software.
  3. Build a database of sea level anomaly with extreme weather conditions using developed numerical models.
  4. Analyze climate, ocean wave, and coastal data to improve model accuracy.
  5. Conduct research to enhance wave modeling techniques and contribute to the advancement of coastal engineering and oceanography.
  6. Evaluate potential impacts of storm surges on coastal regions, including flood risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hydrodynamic researchers, coastal engineers, and oceanographers.
  • Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals and present results at conferences.
Requirements:
  • A PhD or Master's degree in a related field with a focus on coastal engineering, oceanography, or hydrodynamics.
  • Proficiency in wave modeling software, particularly Delft3D and SWAN.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Research experience in coastal and ocean waves is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
