Job Title: Coastal Research Associate

Job Description:

The research associate will work with the principal investigator to review and synthesise peer-reviewed literature, technical reports, and modelling studies to evaluate the strengths, limitations, and assumptions of existing methodologies.

The role involves data compilation, critical analysis, and assisting in the preparation of academic outputs.

Key Requirements:
  • Literature searches and manuscript preparation
  • Data collection using mixed methodology
  • Statistical analyses and evidence synthesis
  • Drafting of progress report(s) and final research report
  • Research publications and presentations, and dissemination of the results
Required Skills and Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in geoscience, coastal engineering, environmental science, statistics, or a related quantitative field is required.

Strong understanding of coastal hazards, particularly sea level rise, storm surge, and tsunami processes.

Proven experience in conducting literature reviews and meta-analyses, with excellent analytical and synthesis skills.

Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB), and familiarity with probabilistic modelling concepts used in coastal hazards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and contribute to academic publications.
