Job Description

The role of Assistant Station Manager is a critical position in the train station's daily operations. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the station, including preparing it for rail service, conducting security patrols, and providing customer service.

Additionally, the Assistant Station Manager will be responsible for monitoring commuter flow and managing crowds during peak hours and/or during service degradation. He/She will also carry out first-line recovery of station equipment and systems, perform the duty of an emergency train operator when required, and support the implementation of procedures for rail incidents and/or emergencies.

Responsibilities
  1. Customer Service:
  • Assist passengers with fare-related and directional enquiries.
  • Attend to unwell passengers and render first aid when necessary.
  • Monitor CCTV and make necessary Public Announcements.
Platform and Train Operations Duties:
  • Ensure passenger safety when commuters travel on escalators and boarding/alighting from trains.
  • Attend to incidents and alarms at the platforms and trains, and carry out hand signal duties when required.
  • Provide travel directions for passengers travelling within the train system.
Concourse Duties:
  • Carry out checks on illegally parked or abandoned bicycles or belongings.
  • Conduct inspections and take appropriate actions on passengers who use concession tickets illegally, travel without valid tickets, and those who flout regulations.
Administrative Duties:
  • Liaise with cleaning personnel for station/toilet cleaning.
  • Report any equipment fault to the Station Manager and file the fault reporting through the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
Opening and Closing of Station:
  • Opens and closes the station according to the timetable.
