Job Title: Senior/Deputy Director, Office of Strategy Management

At Singapore Management University, we are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking leader to join our team as a Senior/Deputy Director in the Office of Strategy Management. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in driving our university's strategic planning, performance management, and corporate planning.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Implementation:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of our university's strategic plans, ensuring alignment with our institutional goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the operationalisation of systems to monitor and evaluate strategic performance, ensuring efficient tracking and assessment of our Strategic Plan and initiatives.
  • Lead the strategic planning business partner team, advising initiative owners on potential challenges, tracking progress, offering actionable recommendations, and facilitating access to required resources.

Corporate Planning and Performance Management:

Oversee the university's performance management frameworks, including the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and the Dean's Discretionary Fund-BSC (DDF-BSC) performance-based incentive framework.

  • Lead performance review facilitation for BSC and DDF-BSC, engaging with schools and offices to analyse performance drivers, identifying key achievements and improvement areas.
  • Manage performance reporting and analysis for BSC and DDF-BSC, compiling, analysing, and reporting performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making and institutional planning.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in any field; postgraduate degree would be an advantage.
  • At least 12 to 15 years of work experience within at least 10 years in strategic planning, preferably in higher education and/or consulting.
  • Experience in managing a team and leading projects.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess and evaluate issues and data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage with colleagues of all seniority levels.
