
Help Desk Technician

The role of Desktop Support Specialist involves providing technical assistance and support to end-users, ensuring the smooth operation of desktop hardware and software. This includes troubleshooting issues, installing and configuring operating systems and applications, and performing maintenance tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Incident management: logging incidents, handling within service level agreements (SLAs), escalating as necessary, and ensuring accurate information entry.
- Asset management: ensuring new desktops are in working condition, recording asset information accurately, and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
- Desktop software/patch management: assisting in testing and rollout of software/patches, providing progress updates, and ensuring desktop teams meet minimum support standards.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing team staff movement plans, duty rosters, and leave forecasts.
- Taking ownership of queries, issues, and problems assigned to EUC team members.
- Working with vendor support contacts to resolve technical issues.
- Escalating issues and involving experts or other IT teams as necessary.
- Identifying user needs and coordinating to meet asset management requirements.
- Overseeing day-to-day clinic business-as-usual (BAU) operations supports.
- Managing and handling issues that may arise and highlighting them to relevant parties/teams/management.
- Assisting in condemning/decommissioning old assets and disposal.
- Performing installation, setup, configuration, diagnostic, migration, upgrading, and maintenance of desktop PCs/laptops, operating systems, applications, software, and related IT peripherals.
Required skills and qualifications include:
- Strong understanding of desktop hardware and software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
