About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gardening Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the resort's gardens, landscaping, and green spaces to ensure they remain pristine and aligned with luxury eco-resort standards and sustainability practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and nurture all planted areas assigned including flower beds, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plants.
  • Perform regular watering, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and pest control activities according to seasonal requirements.
  • Monitor plant health and identify diseases, pests, or nutritional deficiencies in tropical plant species.
  • Implement appropriate treatment plans for plant care, recovery, and disease prevention.
  • Conduct soil preparation, cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, and seed sowing activities.
  • Maintain proper irrigation systems and ensure efficient water usage practices.

Landscaping & Aesthetic Management:

  • Ensure all garden areas meet the resort's luxury aesthetic standards and eco-resort sustainability practices.
  • Plant and transplant flowers, shrubs, and trees according to seasonal requirements and landscape design plans.
  • Maintain neat and organized garden beds with proper mulching, edging, and pathway maintenance.
  • Support special landscaping projects, seasonal displays, and resort beautification initiatives.
  • Maintain gardens and pathways to ensure safe and beautiful guest experiences throughout the property.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruption during maintenance activities while maintaining guest satisfaction.

Equipment & Tools Management:

  • Operate and maintain gardening equipment including mowers, trimmers, pruning tools, and irrigation systems.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and serviced according to safety protocols.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs when necessary to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintain inventory of gardening supplies, fertilizers, and plant care materials.

Environmental & Safety Compliance:

  • Follow sustainable gardening practices aligned with the resort's environmental commitments.
  • Maintain knowledge of tropical plant species, local climate conditions, and seasonal growing patterns.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations and proper handling procedures for fertilizers and pest control materials.
  • Keep walkways and common areas clear of debris and potential safety hazards.

Requirements:

  • Educational background in Horticulture or a related field is an added advantage; 2-3 years of relevant gardening/landscaping hands-on experience.
  • Strong understanding of seasonal growing patterns, and local climate conditions.
  • Strong understanding of tropical plants, pest control, irrigation systems, and sustainable gardening practices.
  • Understanding of soil types, drainage systems, and plant nutrition requirements.
  • Experience working in luxury hotels, resorts, or high-end residential properties will be an added advantage.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently.
