We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO professional to join our school community. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the diverse learning needs of our students.

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Special Educational Needs and implement effective strategies to support learners and their teachers in creating challenging and inspiring learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of SEND legislation and its implementation within the school.
  2. Coordinate Examination Access Arrangements, working closely with faculty and examinations staff to ensure all students receive appropriate support.
  3. Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, parents, therapists, and external agencies to create tailored educational provision that meets the unique needs of our students.

Requirements

  • Hold a degree level qualification or above.
  • Possess Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Hold a SENCO qualification (or be working towards it).
  • Have a working knowledge of the English National Curriculum and JCQ.
  • Demonstrate high levels of IT competence.
  • Complete Exam Access Arrangement training and accreditation.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Show evidence of at least two years teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate excellence as a subject teacher and Form Tutor.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability within current or previous roles.
  • Show demonstrable evidence of monitoring tracking data and using data to implement successful interventions.
  • Work in partnership with parents to achieve student outcomes.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to engage students and enable them to perform to a high standard.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Cultural Intelligence (CQ), demonstrating commitment to I-DEA and intercultural learning.

  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.

Leadership and Management

  • Oversight and coordination of Learning Support teacher, HLTA/Pathway 2 Teaching Assistant timetables.
  • Deploy TAs and HLTAs to maximise efficiency of resources and impact on learning.
  • Maintain accurate SEN records for students within the schools' management system.
