Key Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Design Specialist to join our marine operations team. This role involves assessing vessel hull strength, developing solutions for structural reinforcement, and collaborating with stakeholders to secure approvals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of marine engineering, naval architecture, and cargo lashing design. Proficiency in CAD tools and analysis software is essential. We value problem-solving skills, independence, and the ability to work under pressure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assess vessel hull strength and develop solutions for structural reinforcement
  • Prepare detailed plans and reports for lashing, stowage, securing, dunnage, and heavy lifting
  • Liaise with owners, charterers, shipmasters, and class societies to secure approvals and resolve technical queries
  • Provide technical input to the commercial team during vessel evaluations and tenders
  • Maintain accurate records, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve workflows
  • Share expertise with the team and support training initiatives

Requirements:

  • Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Structural/Design Engineer in shipyards or marine engineering
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD or similar) and analysis software (e.g., Femap/Nastran)
  • Experience in cargo lashing design (e.g., DNV Lashcon) and working knowledge of lifting/rigging
  • Solid understanding of vessel stability, cargo loading, welding, and marine structures
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently and collaboratively
