Structural Design Engineer (Marine)

We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer (Marine) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing vessel structures that meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering and design, with experience in structural analysis and optimization. You will work closely with our team of engineers and designers to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

  1. Design and develop vessel structures that meet the requirements of regulatory bodies and industry standards.
  2. Conduct structural analysis and optimization to ensure the safety and efficiency of vessel operations.
  3. Collaborate with the design team to develop and implement new designs and technologies.
  4. Work with the commercial team to provide technical input and support during vessel evaluations and tenders.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A diploma/degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a structural or design engineer in shipyards or marine engineering.
  • Confident use of CAD tools (AutoCAD or similar), plus analysis software like Femap/Nastran.
  • Experience in cargo lashing design (e.g. DNV Lashcon), and some knowledge of lifting/rigging.
  • Strong grasp of vessel stability, cargo loading, welding, and marine structures.

You must also be able to work independently, but also enjoy teamwork and collaboration. Calm under pressure and able to handle last-minute situations is essential.
