Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Vice President, Structured Finance Asia. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a private credit fund focusing on infrastructure, as well as originating and managing infrastructure debt arranging activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Implementation - Assist in refining a strategy for creating a private credit fund and promoting its implementation through acquisitions or joint ventures.
  • Origination and Asset Management - Assist in pitching, originating, and coordinating the execution and asset management of infrastructure debt arranging activities.
  • Market Development - Develop and maintain client relationships in line with the agreed sector and/or market strategy and risk appetite, with a focus on originating project / acquisition finance opportunities.
  • Risk Management and Compliance - Adhere to SMBC's compliance and risk management policies and set an example for junior staff. Act as a Compliance Assistant for the team.
  • Secondment / Transfer - Potentially be seconded or transferred to the platform to be created or acquired.
Requirements
  • University degree or above
  • 7 years or more relevant working experience
  • Experience in assisting senior members of the team in pitching for new deals
  • Experience in loan credit preparation and processes
  • Experience in loan and security arrangements preparation and execution (past experience in working at infrastructure credit / debt fund or subordinated financing will be a plus)
  • Past experience in capital and business alliance or M&A as advisor or a principal will be a plus
  • Strong financial modelling and legal documentation skills
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. word, excel, powerpoint)
  • Able to take leadership role in tasks assigned, working with peers in other departments, with juniors in the resource pool as well as external parties like peer banks and consultants
  • Team player
  • Strong communicator both verbally and in writing
