Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled sports instructor to teach horse riding lessons and manage stable operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching students of all levels, from beginners to competitive riders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach horse riding lessons to students of all levels, utilizing effective instructional methods and safety protocols.
  • Prepare students for monthly competitions and assist them on show days, ensuring their confidence and performance are enhanced.
  • Encourage students to participate in the riding section through additional lessons, leases, and competing at shows, promoting a love for the sport.
  • Maintain rider lists and color levels, reviewing quarterly to ensure accuracy and fairness.
  • Complete rider assessments and teach beginner courses, developing skills and knowledge in horse riding instruction.
  • Participate in clinics to develop riding and teaching skills, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
  • Progress qualifications through the British Horse Society course program, achieving Stage 3 SM certification.
  • Report any issues regarding horse behavior or welfare, prioritizing animal care and well-being.
  • Attend weekly department meetings to discuss ongoing projects, share knowledge, and collaborate with colleagues.
Stable Management
  • Perform daily checks of riding section stables and horses between 7am and 8:30am, submitting a weekly report on stable conditions and horse health.
  • Order weekly feed and bedding requirements, ensuring efficient supply chain management.
  • Train and support grooms in their jobs, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Complete monthly reports on tack and equipment condition, recommending maintenance or replacement as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of tack in use and in-store, recommending any tack requirements to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain horse care records, tracking vaccinations, medical treatments, and other essential information.
  • Allocate horses for daily lessons, schooling, and turnout against daily sheet bookings, ensuring safe and efficient use of resources.
Requirements
  • Possess a British Horse Society Assistant Instructor (BHS AI) Certificate or equivalent qualification, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the field.
  • Display good interpersonal skills to deliver high-quality customer care, building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Enjoy teaching at all levels, from beginners to competitive riders, finding joy in helping others achieve their goals.
