Job Title: Sports Instructor

We are seeking a qualified Sports Instructor to join our team at the Singapore Polo Club. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching horse riding lessons in a safe, progressive and enjoyable manner for all levels of riders.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, patience, and a passion for horse riding. They should also have experience working with children and adults alike, and be able to adapt their teaching style to suit different learning needs.

A strong emphasis is placed on creating a supportive and inclusive environment, where students feel valued and motivated to learn. Our team works collaboratively to ensure that every student receives the highest level of care and attention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach horse riding lessons to students of all levels, from beginner courses to novice riders.
  • Prepare students for monthly competitions and assist them on show days.
  • Encourage students to become more involved in the riding section through Pony Club, additional lessons, leases and competing at shows.
  • Maintain rider lists and colour levels, reviewing quarterly.
  • Conduct rider assessments, teach beginner courses and participate in clinics to develop riding and teaching skills.
  • Progress qualifications through the BHS course program up to Stage 3 SM.
  • Report issues regarding horse behavior or welfare.
  • Attend weekly department meetings.
  • Teach regular or ad-hoc lessons outside of normal teaching hours with overtime compensation.
  • Assist with SPC competitions, including arena setup, tasks and stewarding.
Stable Management:
  • Daily check of riding section stables and horses between 7am & 8.30am, submitting a weekly report.
  • Order weekly feed and bedding requirements.
  • Train and support grooms in their jobs.
  • Complete monthly reports of tack and equipment condition.
  • Maintain an inventory of tack in use and in-store, recommending any tack requirements.
  • Maintain horse care records.
  • Allocate horses for daily lessons, schooling, turnout against daily sheet bookings (after first month).
Requirements:
  • Possess a British Horse Society's Assistant Instructor (BHS AI) Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Good interpersonal skills to deliver high-quality customer care.
  • Enjoy teaching at all levels, from beginners to competitive riders.
