Senior Bioinformatics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in the role of Senior Bioinformatics Specialist.

In this position, you will play a crucial part in developing cutting-edge tools and workflows for assay development. You will work closely with colleagues from diverse functions to gather requirements and implement algorithms for various qPCR-based applications.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Translating customer needs into software product requirements and building tools for automating routine tasks
  • Representing the bioinformatics team in internal projects and collaborating with colleagues from diverse functions
  • Supporting custom assay design requests in a timely manner
  • Providing technical guidance on customer calls and communicating with non-technical team members to support customer requests
  • Providing bioinformatics training to other colleagues and presenting regularly in team meetings
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A PhD in Computational Biology or a related computational field, with 1-2 years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience, or an M.S. in Computer Science or Bioinformatics, coupled with 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • Experience in developing customer-facing products and tools
  • Demonstrated expertise in programming languages such as Python, Linux, R, and SQL
  • Solid understanding of data science methodologies and tools, including NumPy, SciPy, and related technologies
  • Strong background in designing targeted assays, or transferable expertise in genomics data analysis
  • Proficiency with biological databases such as NCBI, COSMIC, IMG, UCSC, and others
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacogenomics, and Multi-Omics Data Analysis
  • Proven track record as a technical lead on projects, with the ability to translate project requirements into actionable results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed team environment
