Job Title: Commercial Legal Director

This role plays a critical part in driving business success by advising and enabling commercial teams with legal advice and representation.

The position is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the organization, including providing legal counsel across the region, handling disputes, and creating and enforcing intellectual property.

As the subject matter expert for all commercial legal affairs within the Asia Pacific Region, this leader will oversee advice and support for commercial teams and all commercial activities across the region.

A key responsibility of this role is to manage a team of lawyers located in various countries across the APAC region, as well as partner with senior commercial management and play a key role in senior commercial leadership teams across the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee advice and support for commercial teams and all commercial activities across the APAC region
  • Manage a team of lawyers located in various countries across the APAC region
  • Partner with senior commercial management and play a key role in senior commercial leadership teams across the region
  • Analyze the organization's regional legal and corporate risk; offering alternatives and recommendations as required
  • Drafting and negotiating major commercial contracts in support of commercial activities across the APAC region
  • Advise and support commercial activities including Sales, eCommerce, Distribution, commercial transformation, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Compliance
  • Advise on innovative go-to-market strategies including novel pathways to reach patients in non-traditional ways
  • Coordinate activities with global counterparts to deliver repeatable and predictable legal advice to commercial clients
  • Provide education and awareness to client groups on relevant laws and practice
  • Oversee a legal budget and engagement of outside legal counsel

Key Skills:

  • Superior knowledge of legislation/legal systems
  • Excellent drafting, presentation, and influencing skills
  • Honesty, integrity, and ethics essential
  • Proven leadership experience in law firm or publicly-traded company
  • Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions

Qualifications:

  • Law degree from reputable institution
  • Minimum 15 years legal experience
  • Mastery of common law
