Global Counsel is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Asia practice in Singapore. The team helps global corporates, investors, and organisations, exploit growth opportunities across a wide range of markets and anticipate and manage macroeconomic, geopolitical, and country risks.
The role will be based in GC's Singapore office but travel will be required when necessary.
**Role and responsibilities**:
- Support clients across diverse sectors, with a focus on financial services, while collaborating with global offices for an integrated service.
- Monitor and analyse regulatory, political and policy developments in Asia, and draft regular update notes.
- Assist in strategic planning exercises (e.g., scenario development, horizon scanning) for clients to assess the impact of economic and geopolitical events on business continuity and supply chains.
- Develop client engagement strategies, including topical briefing packs and stakeholder mapping.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building positive client relationships and ensuring timely delivery of projects and actions.
- Contribute to business development by identifying potential clients and producing policy insights and analysis relevant to them.
- Act as an active ambassador for Global Counsel at relevant industry and policy events, and invest in developing the skills, expertise and reputation of yourself and others.
**Skills profile**:
- Ideally 3-6 years of relevant experience in a consulting firm, think tank, financial institution, government, or international/regional organisation, with a focus on international economic affairs. Some exposure to major East and Southeast Asian economies and important regional policy debates would also be considered a plus.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to make inferences and draw conclusions about how political and policy developments impact businesses and investors.
- Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing clear, objective, and engaging content on complex or sensitive topics.
- Strong research skills, including data analysis and visual presentation.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent account and project management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks effectively, and leading projects independently within tight deadlines.
- Experience using excel and macroeconomic databases would be valuable in this role.
- Fluent in English. Additional language skills are advantageous but not required.
