Rail Maintenance Strategist Role Overview

As a seasoned Rail Maintenance Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of rail asset maintenance strategies aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and implement robust rail asset maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Drive adoption of condition-based and data-driven maintenance through technological advancements and diagnostic tools.
  • Promote professional competency development and structured learning pathways under the Rail Achiever Scheme.
  • Support formulation and governance of technical orders SOPs and engineering policies.
  • Provide engineering support for local and overseas rail tender bids and asset mobilizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, regulators, OEMs, and industry partners to align strategies and adopt best practices.
  • Promote and embed a safety-first culture in all maintenance operations, audits, and incident investigations.
Key Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A degree in Engineering or Project Management, preferably with tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in rail maintenance or a similar engineering environment.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems, budgets, and fleet maintenance.
  • Desirable experience with tenders, procurement, supply chain, or ISO:55001 implementation.

  • A strong understanding of maintenance strategies, permit-to-work systems, and statutory compliance.
  • Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety legislation interpretation.
  • Excellent planning, stakeholder management, and communication abilities.
