Emotional Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Emotional Support Specialist to join our team in providing emotional, practical, and psychosocial support to individuals affected by blood cancers.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide one-to-one emotional support, counseling, and guidance to patients and caregivers.
    • Assess financial and practical needs and co-create care/support plans.
    • Support patients and families in coping with diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care.
    • Facilitate support groups for workshops, outings, and peer-support activities.
  • Advocacy and Resource Navigation
    • Assist patients and families in accessing financial assistance schemes, medical subsidies, and community resources.
    • Advocate on behalf of patients and caregivers in healthcare, employment, and social settings.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local healthcare and social service systems.
  • Program and Service Delivery
    • Contribute to the design and delivery of emotional support programs for patients and caregivers.
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partner agencies to ensure holistic care.
    • Participate in outreach activities, awareness campaigns, and educational events.
  • Professional Practice and Reporting
    • Maintain timely reports on casework and ensure accurate and confidential case records.
    • Uphold ethical standards and professional boundaries in all interactions.
    • Provide input on service improvement and development based on client needs.
    • Prepare and participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a social worker or counselor.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field (or recognized equivalent).
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the relevant social work body.
  • Experience in healthcare, oncology, or palliative care settings preferred.
  • Strong communication, counseling, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassion, resilience, and commitment to supporting individuals affected by blood cancer.
