Key Role: Technical Superintendent

The position of Technical Superintendent plays a pivotal role within the organization, ensuring the optimal functioning and maintenance of vessels.

  • Maintenance Planning: The incumbent is responsible for preparing comprehensive vessel maintenance plans, taking into account various factors such as fleet requirements and resource availability.
  • Maintenance Monitoring: The Technical Superintendent oversees the execution of maintenance works, guaranteeing that they are conducted in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Quality Control: The incumbent evaluates the maintenance standard on board assigned vessels, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Survey & Certificates Management: The Technical Superintendent ensures that all vessels under their care possess valid survey and certificates, guaranteeing compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Incident Management: In the event of incidents or accidents, the incumbent promptly takes charge, conducting root cause analysis and developing preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences.
  • Inspections & Dry Dockings: The Technical Superintendent prepares and executes timely inspections and dry dockings, providing regular written reports to stakeholders.
  • Vessel Plans & Manuals: The incumbent maintains the latest versions of vessel plans and manuals, guaranteeing accuracy and relevance.
  • Insurance Repairs: The Technical Superintendent arranges, costs, and attends to insurance repairs, ensuring efficient resolution of claims.
  • Spare Parts Procurement: The incumbent procures spare parts, stores, lubricants, paints, etc. for vessels, guaranteeing availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Budget Preparation: The Technical Superintendent prepares vessel budgets, maintaining a tight control over expenditure and adhering to organizational guidelines.
  • Environmental & Safety Standards: The incumbent advises vessels on environmental and safety matters, promoting best practices and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Vessel Visits: The Technical Superintendent conducts regular visits to vessels, submitting detailed visit reports to stakeholders.
  • Inter-Departmental Coordination: The incumbent coordinates activities between vessels and the office, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Vessel Performance Monitoring: The Technical Superintendent continuously monitors vessel performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Team Objectives Implementation: The incumbent implements the company's team objectives, driving collaborative efforts towards shared goals.
  • Casualty Management: The Technical Superintendent manages marine casualties according to established protocols, minimizing disruption and maximizing recovery.
  • Crew Appraisal: The incumbent appraises crew members on board vessels, evaluating performance and providing constructive feedback.
Requirements:

To be successful in this key role, the ideal candidate must possess:

  • A Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency.
  • LNG/LPG sailing experience: At least 2 years at a management level or 2 years of superintendent experience.
  • Dual Fuel Engines Knowledge: A good understanding of Dual Fuel Engines, LNG Cargo containment, and handling systems.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
