Job Profile

The Assistant Chef plays a vital role in supporting the Head Chef to maintain smooth kitchen operations and adherence to food hygiene and workplace safety standards. This includes ensuring high-quality standards in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, garnishing, and plating following recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines set by the Head Chef.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to NEA/SFA food hygiene standards.
  • Assist in inventory management, storage, and kitchen checks.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults or malfunctions.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff and kitchen assistants.
  • Support or cover for the Head Chef when required.
  • Adhere to high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) standards.
Requirements
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience is essential.
  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a professional kitchen setting.
  • Knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients is preferred.
  • Valid WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is mandatory.
  • Strong teamwork and time management skills are necessary.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.

  • WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is mandatory for all food handlers.
  • SFA & NEA compliance regarding food hygiene and cleanliness.
