Head of Engineering, Payments Role

As a senior engineering leader, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end engineering organisation powering all payment experiences across our ecosystem. This includes designing, building, and operating a full-stack payments platform at massive scale.

The role requires strong technical leadership, strategic direction, and operational excellence. You will work closely with product, business, and compliance leaders to co-own the strategy and roadmap, driving innovation and growth.

  • Extensive experience in building and operating large-scale payment systems is essential.
  • Deep understanding of the payments value chain, including payment networks, settlement and reconciliation, fraud prevention, KYC/AML, risk management, and regional regulatory landscapes in Southeast Asia is required.
  • Proven ability to translate business models into technical architectures that enable growth, monetization, and compliance without compromising scalability or reliability is necessary.
  • Hands-on experience with modern payment technology stacks, including backend architectures, mobile payment integrations, tokenization, encryption, and real-time transaction processing is preferred.

As a director-level role, you will report to the Head of Engineering, GrabFin and work onsite at Grab Office. The team size is over 200 experienced individuals across multiple countries, and you will be responsible for fostering ownership, skillfulness, and continuous improvement within the team.
