Job Summary

The role of a Performing Artiste is to bring characters to life on stage through acting, singing and dancing. This involves learning lines, songs and/or dances, researching the play/character, attending rehearsals, costume fittings and technical rehearsals. The Performer must also work with other performers, take direction from the Director and/or Choreographer, use props and costumes during the performance and perform duties as outlined in the job description.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with directors and choreographers to understand roles and responsibilities
  • Participate in rehearsals and performances, adhering to schedules and deadlines
  • Contribute to creating an engaging and memorable theatrical experience
  • Maintain high levels of energy and stamina throughout performances
  • Collaborate with fellow performers to achieve cohesive show outcomes
  • Attend costume fittings and adhere to dress code guidelines

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and memorize scripts, songs and dance routines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Adaptable and flexible to meet changing needs and demands
  • Resilient under pressure and able to manage stress
  • Familiarity with theatre etiquette and protocols
  • Possess excellent physical fitness and coordination

Other Information:

The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent conflict resolution abilities, innovative ideas, trustworthiness and impartiality. Additionally, they should possess a valid fire safety certification, risk assessment skills, knowledge of stage lighting, vocal techniques and stage management principles. Experience with risk management, conflict resolution, stage make-up and proposal stages is also desirable. A strong commitment to workplace safety and health practices is essential for this role.
