Job Overview

The primary goal of a Network Security Specialist is to design and implement robust network security strategies, thereby safeguarding the organization's IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing network security strategies and policies to prevent cyber threats
  • Configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security devices to ensure seamless integration with existing systems
  • Conducting thorough vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address potential security risks
  • Monitoring and analyzing network traffic to detect and respond to security incidents in real-time
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that security solutions align with business objectives
  • Providing technical guidance and support to end-users on best practices for network security
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in security technologies and emerging threats

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in network security engineering or a related field
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and industry standards such as NIST and ISO
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, and other network security devices including Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Networks
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring and security analytics tools like Splunk and ELK Stack
  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing techniques using tools like Metasploit and Burp Suite
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and mitigate security risks
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CISSP, or GIAC are highly desirable
