Job Title: Senior Trade Operations Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • We seek a highly skilled professional to handle export/import documents, including letter of credit, bank negotiation, bill of lading, insurance certificates, and certificate of origin.
  • The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation, vetting, and signing of sales/purchase contract documents and other trade/shipping paperwork.
  • They will coordinate and communicate with port inspectors/ship broker to facilitate smooth loading and discharging of shipment.
  • Tracking status of vessel arrival to determine compliance with the contract delivery period is a critical aspect of this role.
  • Laytime calculations are also an essential part of this job.
  • Maintaining a record of contracts and shipment schedules is crucial for our operations.
  • Filing contracts and other shipping records neatly and correctly is vital for compliance and audit purposes.
  • This role requires excellent communication skills to prepare reports for use by Management.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing a knowledge-management database that includes updated information on relevant local/international law, regulations, practices, tariffs, duties, licenses, and restrictions.
  • Additionally, they will assist in reviewing work processes, practices, systems, and internal controls to improve workflow and cost efficiency.
  • They will also be required to answer queries directed to the Operations Section and/or the Trader during their absence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field from a reputable university is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years' working experience in operations, preferably in commodity or international trading, is required.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and Mandarin are necessary to communicate effectively with our China Office.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
