Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Motor Drives Engineer to join our Research, Design, and Development (RDD) team in Singapore.

The successful candidate will apply expertise in Electrical Machines Design, Modeling, and Simulation to develop Motor Drives solutions for Dyson's next-generation technologies and products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and delivering projects from design through industrialization.
  • Translating requirements into clear deliverables at each project milestone.
  • Designing, developing, documenting, and implementing motor control algorithms.
  • Simulating and testing motor controls and electromagnetic designs.
  • Supporting the design, commissioning, and troubleshooting of complex production testers.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors on engineering design work.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in developing motor control algorithms and electromagnetic components for single-phase or three-phase motors.
  • Knowledge of electrical machines, motor control, power electronics, and sensing technologies.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB SIMULINK, SIMSCAPE, SPICE, and code generation tools such as Embedded Coder.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of electrical machines.
  • Statistical analysis skills using experimental and production test data.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to report progress clearly and produce high-quality documentation.
  • Experience with Agile project management and obstacle resolution.
