TUM CREATE LIMITED is a multidisciplinary research platform of the Technical University Munich (TUM) at the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). We collaborate with universities, public agencies, and industry to advance future technologies.

Our large-scale Food Science program, Proteins4Singapore, is funded by Singapore's National Research Foundation (NRF). The project aims to address Singapore's aspiration to utilize protein-rich raw materials from indoor cultivation (soybeans and microalgae) to produce alternative food products.

Job Description

This 6-month Master's thesis project focuses on obtaining protein fractions from soybean and microalgae biomass and generating functional peptides. The successful candidate will gain practical experience in a dynamic and international research environment, contributing to Singapore's protein innovation landscape.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conduct hands-on experiments related to microalgae processing, protein extraction, and separation techniques.
  • Collaborate with the research team to optimize protocols and methodologies.
  • Assist in developing and refining scalable processes for protein extraction.
  • Investigate factors affecting efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyse results using appropriate statistical tools and software.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Master's degree in fields such as Biotechnology, Bio-/Chemical Engineering, MINT (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, Technology), or related areas.
  • Laboratory experience, preferably in a similar field.
  • A strong willingness to learn, contribute, and work independently.
  • Essential skills including attention to detail, analytical thinking, and teamwork.
Estimated Salary: SGD $3,500 - $4,000 per month
