About the Role

Cisco is seeking a seasoned government affairs professional to lead our government engagements and public policy efforts throughout ASEAN. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of International Government Affairs, you will be responsible for building relationships with key leaders, elected officials, and policymakers at all levels of government, particularly in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy to advance Cisco's public policy goals in ASEAN.
  • Provide direct support and counsel to senior Cisco executives in their government engagements, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Advocate for policies that promote the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICT) and support Cisco's mission to power an inclusive future for all.
  • Engage Cisco in local policymaking processes, including representing the company in industry coalitions and managing trade association activities.
  • Collaborate with the President of Cisco ASEAN and country leaders throughout the region, as well as with senior executives globally, to drive business growth and policy outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date on current political and policy trends across ASEAN, including potential business implications, and advise senior executives accordingly.
  • Work closely with the global supply chain team on industrial and trade policies to ensure alignment with company objectives.

About You

You have a strong background in government and public policy, combined with the following skills and experience:

  • Comprehensive understanding of legislative and regulatory processes involved in technology policy.
  • Familiarity with public policy issues and challenges impacting the technology industry across Asia Pacific, with expertise in ASEAN countries.
  • Strong political judgment and relationship-building skills, with the ability to convey Cisco's perspective and priorities to government officials.
  • Executive presence, coupled with strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills.

Requirements

  • At least 10+ years' combined experience in the public and private sector, including within government, corporate government affairs, trade associations, and public policy institutions.
  • Telecommunications and technology-related experience is a plus.
  • Native-level English; proficiency in one or more languages spoken in ASEAN countries is a plus.
  • An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel throughout ASEAN and, on occasion, to countries outside of the region.
