IT Governance Manager Job Description

The IT Governance Manager plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining a robust governance framework within the organization's IT department.

This position is instrumental in identifying and closing process and governance gaps, ensuring the alignment of IT practices with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

The IT Governance Manager will lead the development and implementation of IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to support the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Governance Framework Development
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Identity Access Management
  • Lead the management, enhancement, and operations of Identity access management system (IAM).
  • Conduct annual and semi-annual company-wide user and privileged access review and remediation.
  • Propose and implement further controls to mitigate user access related risk and issues.
  • IT Security Governance
  • Establish and maintain IT security baselines aligned with industry standards to ensure consistent security controls across systems.
  • Review firewall rules periodically to enforce network security, minimize attack surface, and ensure compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments to implement security baseline and firewall rules to identify gaps, misconfiguration, potential threats, and remediate without impacting business operations.
  • Process Improvement
  • Identify gaps in existing IT processes and governance structures and develop action plans to address these deficiencies.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of IT governance operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Risk Management
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats to IT governance.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization's IT assets and data.
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor the performance of IT governance and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the status of governance and process improvement efforts.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage with key stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure alignment of IT governance initiatives with business needs.
  • Provide training and support to staff on IT governance and process improvement practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in IT Security related such as CISSP, CISM, SSCP, CompTIA Security+.
  • Strong project management, organizational skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT governance, risk management, identity access management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record of identifying and closing process and governance gaps.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks and industry standards (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, ISO/IEC 27001), MAS TRM, Cyber Hygiene notice, and related financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in using governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools and software.
