The Operations Manager role involves overseeing the day-to-day commercial operations of bulk carriers. This includes managing vessels commercially, coordinating with charterers and agents, and ensuring timely settlement of laytime and final freight.
Responsibilities- Voyage Management
- Issue voyage instructions to the Master and liaise directly with ships and charterers.
- Coordinate closely with Laytime Pic for laytime matters and ensure timely settlement of laytime/final freight.
- Commercial Operations
- Oversee day-to-day commercial operations of ships, including appointing and dealing with agents and inspectors.
- Assist in the settlement of disputes with charterers.
- Vessel Performance
- Monitor ship's speed and consumption.
- Maintain performance records and highlight under-performance to Weather routing company/Commercial Team.
- Administrative Tasks
- Ensure that ships are being operated as per CP.
- Maintain proper voyage records.
- Prepare monthly/weekly reports.
- Work towards fulfilling Standard KPIs.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of working experience in the shipping industry in operations.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, accept new challenges, demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
- Team player attitude.
