Software Solutions Expert

Job Summary:

Lead a technical study into proposed software solutions, leveraging expertise from infrastructure and big data experts, as well as business analysts.

  • Develop comprehensive designs for software solutions that meet user needs.
  • Implement software solutions with a focus on quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate hardware and/or software systems.

The ideal candidate will possess autonomy, reliability, and initiative in performing duties, especially for non-functional deliverables such as testing tools, mocking objects, production monitoring, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading technical studies into proposed software solutions.
  • Designing and developing software solutions that meet user needs.
  • Ensuring all CI-CD artefacts are part of the solution.
  • Performing code review and fostering knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Interacting with project managers and providing reporting.
  • Monitoring technical risk and escalating to management when necessary.
  • Researching, designing, and developing software solutions that meet user needs.
Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of experience in software development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Java/J2EE development.
  • Hands-on experience with data ingest and processing technologies like Spark streaming and Hadoop.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka, Flume, or ActiveMQ.
  • Familiarity with Hadoop (preferably Hortonworks distribution) - HDFS, HBase, Hive, ORC/Parquet.
  • Experience with build tools like Maven, sbt, or ant, UML, Restful web services, Jenkins/Team City, Source management – SVN/GIT, TDD using Junit, Jira/QC.

Good-to-Have Requirements:

  • Solution design using proven patterns and awareness of anti-patterns, performance tuning, especially in streaming.
  • Knowledge of tools like Phoenix, ElasticSearch, Sqoop, StreamSets.
  • Basic understanding of finance and investment banking.
