About this role
Lead the design and integration of advanced laser and electro-optics systems for defence applications. Translate complex operational needs into system-level solutions, guiding multidisciplinary teams through concept development, integration, testing, and deployment.
This is a senior technical position that requires expertise in systems engineering, optics, lasers, and electro-optical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of system architecture, functional requirements, and performance specifications.
The selected candidate will be responsible for defining system architecture, leading multidisciplinary development activities, and ensuring technical alignment across all subsystems. They will also oversee system-level testing, validation, and field deployment to ensure that performance and operational requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive and accurate technical documentation, including design records, test reports, and validation data, ensuring compliance with configuration management and industry standards
- Define system architecture, functional requirements, and performance specifications for advanced laser and electro-optics systems
- Lead prototyping, testing, integration of electronics, mechanical, optical and software subsystems into a coherent system
- Translate operational requirements into technical specifications and lead the systems engineering process from concept to deployment
- Oversee system-level testing, validation, and field deployment to ensure that performance and operational requirements are met
Requirements:
- Bachelor/Masters in Systems Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of experience in systems engineering of advanced laser or electro-optics systems
- Proven experience in requirements engineering, system design reviews, and verification/validation plans
- Solid understanding of optics, lasers, and electro-optical systems to effectively lead system integration and design decisions
- Familiarity with systems engineering practices including requirements traceability, interface definition, and verification planning
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working across engineering domains
- Strong leadership and technical coordination across multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to translate customer needs into engineering requirements and solutions
- Skilled in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
- Comfortable with ambiguity in early R&D stages, and able to structure complexity
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams toward shared objectives
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities in both lab and field settings
