Job Summary

As a Sommelier at Marina Bay Sands, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine and sake service to our guests. This role requires a high level of knowledge of wines, sake, and cocktails, as well as the ability to pair them with food and upsell to guests. You will be responsible for maintaining the beverage list, setting up and organizing wine and sake storage, and ensuring that all beverage-related equipment is in good working order.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of wines, sake, and cocktails, including their pairing options and characteristics.
  • Provide exceptional wine and sake service to guests, including recommendations and pairings.
  • Maintain the beverage list, including updating and revising it as needed.
  • Ensure that all beverage-related equipment is in good working order and properly maintained.
  • Work closely with the management team to identify opportunities to increase beverage sales and implement promotions and events.
  • Assist in the management of the front of house and beverage team to ensure the smooth running of the restaurant.
  • Maximize sales opportunities through beverage sales and maintain order of service standards.
  • Regularly educate staff on wine, sake, and cocktails knowledge, specifically pertaining to the restaurant's beverage program.
  • Conduct monthly inventory of wine, sake, and all related beverages.

Requirements

  • Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) or Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) certification would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the wine/sake trade and passionate about wine/sake service.
  • Extensive knowledge of all wine/sake and wine/sake service, encompassing alcoholic or non-alcoholic items.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Willing and able to work on shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
