Assistant Chief Engineer Role

The Assistant Chief Engineer will support the Chief Engineer in overseeing all property engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring resort facilities are safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently to provide a high-quality guest experience.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assisting the Chief Engineer in managing daily operations, including HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other critical hotel infrastructure.
  • Supervising and providing leadership to the engineering team, ensuring efficient and safe task performance.
  • Conducting regular inspections of all resort facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations, local codes, and resort standards.
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance programs, protecting physical assets and maximizing longevity.
  • Collaborating with the Chief Engineer to manage energy conservation programs and implement sustainable practices.
  • Responding to emergencies and breakdowns promptly, coordinating repairs with minimal disruption.
  • Assisting with budgeting and financial planning, including vendor contracts, equipment procurement, and tracking expenditures.
  • Ensuring timely and efficient handling of maintenance requests from guests or other departments.
  • Developing and mentoring the engineering team for high work standards and a safety commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field is required.
  • A minimum 5-7 years of experience in hotel or resort engineering operations, with at least 3 years in supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and collaboration with other departments.
