Sybase & PostgreSQL team in Singapore is responsible for day-to-day operational services on the infrastructure of Europe (mainly France, UK) and Asia remotely from Singapore. The primary objective is to maintain 80% of worldwide production activities for a global bank.

A technical expert role within the Database team requires managing, administering, and supporting Sybase & PostgreSQL Database technologies.

The jobholder will serve as a technical point of contact for the Run team, acting as L3 resource for Sybase & PostgreSQL database services. This position entails support for all production support activities within the Database team in Singapore.

The jobholder is accountable for overall health and stability of technical solutions within their scope. They will collaborate with architects, peers, and project teams on technology roadmaps and projects, ensuring effective working relationships.

Scope of duties

Job Responsibilities

This role encompasses various responsibilities including:

  • Incident management involving fault investigation, resolution escalations of monitoring alerts, and user-initiated problem calls/tickets.
  • Owning incident, problem, and change management processes for the team.
  • Assigning technical tasks and managing delegation.
  • Animating the team to encourage collaboration and sharing of practices.
  • Participating in recruitment processes for the team.

The jobholder will be involved in projects like End of Life, New Builds, migrations, and technical upgrades of the solution managed by the team.

They will participate in global Infra events such as power downs and DR tests, ensuring compliance with norms, standards, processes, and procedures.

Documentation must be up to date and relevant for use. The jobholder will lead continuous improvement initiatives and be responsible for driving root cause analysis for high-severity issues.

Focusing on automation and optimal use of the team to improve efficiency is essential. Maintaining appropriate knowledge to ensure full qualification for the role is crucial.
