Steam System Operator

As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and auxiliary equipment connected to the Engine Room and accommodation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the Steam system with meticulous attention to safety protocols, adhering strictly to IMS documentation guidelines.
  • Maintain the highest level of efficiency and safety across all equipment of the Steam system through regular inspections and maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute significantly to Pressurized Systems compliance, promptly reporting any anomalies or issues to the equipment inspector.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data control updates by maintaining company systems throughout each shift.
  • Promote a culture of cleanliness and organization within equipment, workshops, work areas, and chemical/paint zones.
  • Perform chipping and painting tasks as required.
  • Monitor and record water tanks, fuel oil, and other tanks' ullages and quantities.
  • Assist during internal transfers of fuel oil under supervision's guidance while adhering to IMS guidelines.
  • Support tanks bunkering operations, contributing to this process when necessary.
  • Analyze water samples and adjust chemicals accordingly upon request.
  • Collaborate closely with the ship's boilers and associated equipment operators.
  • Keep boiler operation up-to-date, familiarizing yourself with relevant documentation and operation manuals.
  • Inspect existing systems for signs of leaks or corrosion, advising the engine room supervisor accordingly.
  • Attend regular safety meetings, participate actively in accident/incident investigations, and ensure PTW is available and approved.
  • Undertake additional tasks within your professional competence as requested.
