Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer

Our organization is seeking an accomplished Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the development of robotic hardware products.

  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering features and components of a fully autonomous cleaning robot.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end design process, from concept generation to prototyping, testing, and final product release.
  • Rapidly prototype design ideas using fabrication methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting, sheet metal to test and validate multiple concepts.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of different methodologies including Agile, Stage-Gate, Lean Product Development, and Design Thinking. Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience in new product introduction (NPI) are also required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for robots.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify design requirements and specifications.
  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential design challenges.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in robotics hardware.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in product management, design engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in product development, with a strong understanding of different methodologies.
  • Ability to utilize rapid prototyping to great effect, producing low-fidelity prototypes from 3D printing to validate ideas.
  • Proficient in using SolidWorks and experience in new product introduction (NPI).
  • Operations experience in rolling out hardware or robotic products is preferred.
